Mate Health Launches At-Home DNA Fragmentation Test to Assess Sperm DNA Damage Not Measured by Standard Semen Analysis

Sperm DNA fragmentation testing measures damage to the genetic material carried by sperm, information not captured by conventional semen analysis parameters such as concentration, motility and morphology.

The launch comes as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) updated its recurrent pregnancy loss guidance for the first time since 2012. In its 2026 committee opinion, ASRM states that sperm DNA fragmentation testing may be considered in otherwise unexplained recurrent miscarriage or recurrent pregnancy loss with concomitant infertility. The guidance notes that elevated sperm DNA fragmentation is associated with miscarriage, while additional research is needed to determine whether treating elevated fragmentation improves pregnancy outcomes.
