Juvare Partners with California to Strengthen Statewide Behavioral Health Bed Capacity Visibility

ATLANTA, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Behavioral health access remains one of the most pressing challenges facing communities across California, and Juvare is stepping up to help address it. Through a new partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) under the BH-CONNECT Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver, Juvare will deploy its proven EMResource® platform to power a statewide behavioral health bed capacity solution, giving providers, counties, and state agencies near real-time visibility and real-time alerts into available inpatient psychiatric and crisis stabilization beds across up to 250 participating facilities.

The new system directly supports California's mandate under Assembly Bill 177 and the BH-CONNECT waiver to implement a continuously accessible, online platform tracking bed availability across acute psychiatric hospitals, general acute care hospitals with psychiatric units, psychiatric health facilities, crisis stabilization units, and psychiatric residential treatment facilities.

This partnership builds on more than two decades of Juvare's presence in California. EMResource has supported health systems, EMS agencies, and public health departments across more than 35 California counties since 2002, coordinating response during wildfires, disease outbreaks, mass casualty incidents, and public health emergencies, making it a proven foundation for this statewide expansion into behavioral health capacity tracking.

"Behavioral health capacity challenges affect communities across the country," says Andy Van Pelt, VP of Healthcare at Juvare. "Through partnering with DHCS and BH-CONNECT and building upon national, proven experience in more than 33 states, bringing this, near real-time technology to California, we believe that together, we can meaningfully improve patient outcomes, expand access to services, and strengthen coordinated care statewide that serves as a national model."

With EMResource as the connective tissue between providers, Juvare is committed to helping California turn the goals of BH-CONNECT into measurable results for the patients who need it most.

According to DHCS, "DHCS is looking forward to partnering with Juvare to offer an effective bed tracking solution that supports behavioral health professionals in providing timely high-quality care."
