Are you confused about where to go when you're feeling sick? All State of Texas retirees enrolled in the Texas Group Benefits Program have a variety of options when it comes to care. Both the HealthSelectSM Medicare Advantage and the HealthSelect of Texas® plans can help you deal with illnesses when you need care the most. Read on to learn how to choose the best one!
Options for Medicare-eligible retirees
When you don’t feel well and it’s after hours or your primary care provider (PCP) isn’t available, it can be difficult to know when and where to seek care. Should you take advantage of a virtual visit, go to an urgent care center or the ER? If you are a Medicare-eligible retiree enrolled in the HealthSelectSM Medicare Advantage Plan, you have options.

Options for retirees not enrolled in Medicare
Headache, fever, asthma, rash, back pain? Not sure where to go for care? Health concerns don't always follow a 9-to-5 schedule. Fortunately, neither does our 24-hour Nurseline. If you're a HealthSelect of Texas participant and you're not sure where to go or have a question about a medical condition or concern, the Nurseline may be your answer.
You can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to get answers to medical questions. Registered nurses can answer many of your general health questions, and advise you to call a doctor or encourage you to seek emergency services if necessary. Knowing where to go might save you a few extra dollars, too. 🚑 Remember to use the ER only for true medical emergencies. In an emergency, call 911 or seek immediate care.
